Softball Recap: Woodland Regional Hawks vs. Haddam-Killingworth Cougars
Woodland Regional stacked a 14th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 13-3 margin over the Haddam-Killingworth Cougars. The victory was nothing new for Woodland Regional as they're now sitting on four straight.
Ella VanAlstyne made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. VanAlstyne has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in seven consecutive pitching appearances. VanAlstyne was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Julia Rowley was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Ayla DeCrescenzo, who went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.
On Haddam-Killingworth's side, Cheyenne LaTouche was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and a stolen base.
Woodland Regional has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. As for Haddam-Killingworth, they dropped their record down to 16-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
