Softball Game Preview: Coldwater Cavaliers vs. Minster Wildcats

The Coldwater Cavaliers will head out to challenge the Minster Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Coldwater blew Fort Loramie out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Fort Loramie got their revenge. The Cavaliers fell just short of the Redskins by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cavaliers have suffered against the Redskins since March 30, 2021.

Meanwhile, Minster never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Shawnee. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Rylin Trego, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Addi Inskeep was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Minster was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Minster is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Coldwater, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Coldwater might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Minster in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Cavaliers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
