After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Spruce Creek, Lake Brantley was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Oviedo Lions 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Patriots: when they faced off against the Lions last Tuesday, they had to take a 4-2 defeat.

Elijah Guzman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Andrew Barr, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Jean Gallaraga also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The win got Lake Brantley back to even at 3-3. As for Oviedo, the loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 3-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Brantley will welcome University at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Oviedo, they will host Lyman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oviedo's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Lyman's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
