Baseball Game Preview: Skowhegan River Hawks vs. Oxford Hills Vikings

Skowhegan hasn't had much luck against Oxford Hills recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The River Hawks will challenge the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Friday, Skowhegan didn't have quite enough to beat Mt. Blue and fell 5-4. The River Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Trevor Austin was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Oxford Hills didn't have quite enough to beat Edward Little on Friday and fell 9-8.

Gunner Truman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Ryder Kennison, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Oxford Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Skowhegan, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Skowhegan couldn't quite get it done against Oxford Hills when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 4-0. Can the River Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
