Queen Creek faced Boulder Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Jaguars a 9-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 17 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Aubrey Chavez's shutout, as she gave up just six hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Emma Reynolds was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Alessia Velazquez, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Queen Creek hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matches.

Queen Creek pushed their record up to 23-5 with the win, which was their 20th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Boulder Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 19-8 record this season.

Queen Creek will welcome Casteel at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Colts have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.15 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. Boulder Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
