Softball Game Preview: Ridgeline Academy Eagles vs. Heritage Academy Heroes

Ridgeline Academy is 0-3 against Heritage Academy since April of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Heroes at 4:00 p.m. Ridgeline Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Heritage Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Wednesday. Everything went Ridgeline Academy's way against Imagine Prep Coolidge as they made off with a 23-7 win. Considering Ridgeline Academy has won five matches by more than 13 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Maddie Martinez was a standout: she scored three runs and stole four bases while going 5-for-5. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Makenna Hepting, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Martinez wasn't the only one making solid contact: Ridgeline Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Heritage Academy were a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They came up short against Heritage Academy, falling 9-2. The loss was Heritage Academy's first of the season.

Heritage Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tatum Meeker, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Ridgeline Academy's record is now 6-2. As for Heritage Academy, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 11-1.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Ridgeline Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Heritage Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 1.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Ridgeline Academy suffered a grim 19-3 defeat to Heritage Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
