Council Grove extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-11 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mission Valley Vikings. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Braves have suffered against the Vikings since April 14, 2022.

Kaedyn Litke put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Litke wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Marlee Gant, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

As for Mission Valley, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games.
