Football Preview: Milano Eagles vs. Burton Panthers
Milano hasn't had much luck against Burton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Milano Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Burton Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Milano challenged Snook on Friday. Milano simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Snook 36-2 on the road. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
Gerald Dykes was his usual excellent self, rushing for 196 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up two sacks and making five total tackles. Andres Ruelas was another key player, rushing for 46 yards and two touchdowns.
He was just one part of a punishing run game: Milano was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 305 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2023.
Milano wouldn't let Snook keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force four fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Peyton Steinbecker, Troy Montoya, Ty Magee, and William Mears picked up one apiece. Montoya also made ten total tackles, which is notable because Milano is 2-1 when he posts at least four total tackles, but 1-3 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Burton made easy work of Bartlett on Friday and carried off a 28-7 win.
Milano's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Burton, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
