Preview: Boonville Pioneers vs. Evansville Harrison Warriors
Boonville is 0-7 against Evansville Harrison since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Boonville Pioneers will head out on the road to face off against the Evansville Harrison Warriors at 6:30 p.m.
Boonville couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by Jasper at home and fell 62-27. Boonville has struggled against Jasper recently, as their matchup two weeks ago was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Even though Evansville Harrison has not done well against New Albany recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Evansville Harrison was the clear victor by a 84-58 margin over New Albany. That's two games straight that Evansville Harrison has won by exactly 26 points.
Evansville Harrison's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shane Sims led the charge by scoring 22 points along with 7 assists and 5 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Mcnair, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds.
Boonville's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Evansville Harrison, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Boonville came up short against Evansville Harrison in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 68-58. Thankfully for Boonville, Terryonta Hooks (who scored 14 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
