Softball Recap: Brookwood Falcons vs. Wonewoc-Center Wolves

Brookwood extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-5 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wonewoc-Center Wolves. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Deanna Wallace made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Muehlenkamp, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Wonewoc-Center, the win snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 2-7 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since May 9, 2024.

On Wonewoc-Center's side, Brooklynn Bolton made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Bolton was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Callissa Keller, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Beyn Burns was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.

Brookwood has already played their next game, an 11-4 win against De Soto on the 25th. As for Wonewoc-Center, they will square off against New Lisbon at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
