Basketball Recap: Neillsville Falls Despite Big Games from Landon Rakestraw and Andrew Hoeser

After flying high against Nekoosa on Saturday, Neillsville came back down to earth. The Warriors came up short against the Aquinas Blugolds on Tuesday, falling 77-53. The loss put an end to the Warriors' undefeated start to the season.

Andrew Hoeser and Landon Rakestraw certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Hoeser shot 56% from the field to rack up 24 points and five rebounds, while Rakestraw posted 15 points and three steals. That was a full 45.3% of Neillsville's points, marking the third time in a row Hoeser has earned more than a third of the team's points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Neillsville fell to 2-1.

Looking ahead, Neillsville will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Pacelli at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Aquinas, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Sparta at 7:15 p.m. on the 12th.
