Baseball Recap: St. David's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

St. David dropped their record down to 7-7-1 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 15-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Valley Union Blue Devils. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (ten), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

Vincent Ciccariello made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs. Cedar Haynie was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI.

As for Valley Union, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly three runs.

On Valley Union's side, they got a massive performance out of Yahir Luna, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Luna a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Moroney Flores, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, one run, and one double.

Coming up, St. David will take on Ray at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bearcats have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. Valley Union will be paying especially close attention to St. David's contest: after St. David faces off against Baboquivari, they'll take on Valley Union again at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
