Basketball Recap: Elliott County Has No Trouble Against Russell

While Elliott County didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-25), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They strolled past the Russell Red Devils with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 54-37. For the Lions, this counts as revenge for the 70-49 victory the Red Devils walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Despite the defeat, Russell saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Caleb Rimmer went 8 for 14 on his way to 19 points and eight rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Elliott County and bumps their season record up to 5-1. As for Russell, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Elliott County will venture away from home to challenge Pike County Central at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Russell and Fairland will compete for holiday cheer at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Fairland will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Russell surely won't give up without a fight.
