Football Recap: Cherokee Christian Takes a Loss

Cherokee Christian played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 41-20 to The King's Academy Knights. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.

Colton Messer threw for 109 yards on nine of 17 attempts. Burke Harper was his top target, picking up 80 receiving yards.

The King's Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaxon Bone, who rushed for 249 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.1 yards per carry. Those 249 rushing yards gave Bone a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Iredale, who threw for 257 yards and one TD while completing 74.1% of his passes.

Cherokee Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for The King's Academy, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cherokee Christian will take on Johnson Ferry Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for The King's Academy, they will square off against Creekside Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 971 yards in their previous games.
