Guilford waltzed into their match on Friday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They walked away with a 69-58 win over the Hononegah Indians. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Indians are ranked 226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Guilford's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden Webster, who posted 17 points. Branden Chatman was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Guilford pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. As for Hononegah, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9.

Guilford will be taking part in a tournament against Phillips at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Guilford knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Phillips likes a good challenge. As for Hononegah, they will head out on the road to take on Beloit Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
