Baseball Game Preview: Estancia Eagles vs. La Serna Lancers

The Estancia Eagles will square off against the La Serna Lancers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Estancia has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

While Estancia's win against Colton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Estancia sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over Colton on Saturday.

The team relied heavily on Sawyer Atkinson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Miles Dodge was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, La Serna narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past El Rancho 6-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.

Xavier Becerra was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. Kai Yamato also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Estancia has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. The victory got La Serna back to even at 4-4.

Estancia skirted past La Serna 3-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2016. The rematch might be a little tougher for Estancia since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
