Recap: Cherokee Trail Cougars vs. Regis Jesuit Raiders
The Cherokee Trail Cougars lost against the Regis Jesuit Raiders back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Cherokee Trail took a 66-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Regis Jesuit. Cherokee Trail has struggled against Regis Jesuit recently, as their game on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amari Chandler, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Mitchell , who scored seven points along with nine rebounds.
Regis Jesuit found their leader in underclassman Eric Fiedler, who scored 25 points along with nine rebounds. The contest was Fiedler's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Damarius Taylor was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Cherokee Trail's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Regis Jesuit, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Cherokee Trail will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Windsor at 2:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Hopefully Windsor focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Thursday. As for Regis Jesuit, they will head out on the road to face off against Grandview at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Grandview will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 178th, while Regis Jesuit is ranked 21st).
