Softball Recap: Carlsbad's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against La Costa Canyon, Carlsbad was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns a 5-0 shutout. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Lancers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The result came thanks to Sofia Tillis's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kendall Rivera, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Madilyn Mazzulla was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Carlsbad's victory bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Rancho Buena Vista, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.

Carlsbad will head out to challenge Sage Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Rancho Buena Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
