Basketball Recap: Westwood Beats West Florence for Their Second Straight Victory

If West Florence wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Westwood, they should've done a better job of containing Lyric Rogers. The Westwood Redhawks breezed past the West Florence Knights to the tune of 81-20 on Tuesday thanks in part to Rogers, who went 10-for-20 on her way to 24 points and six steals. Westwood is undefeated when Rogers posts three or more steals, but 7-14 otherwise.

The team also got some help courtesy of Thanna Davis, who went 5-for-7 en route to 14 points. Those 14 points gave her a new career-high.

When it comes to explaining why West Florence lost, don't look at Zoey Marshall. Despite the final result, she posted seven points. Marshall is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games she's played.

The win made it two in a row for Westwood and bumps their season record up to 11-14. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 51.5 points. As for West Florence, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.

Westwood has already played their next matchup, a 58-19 victory against Sumter on the 13th. As for West Florence, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-21 defeat against Spring Valley on the 14th.
