Softball Recap: Harford Tech's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Harford Tech came tearing into Monday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the North Harford Hawks by a score of 6-2. That's two games straight that the Cobras have won by exactly four runs.

Mikayla McJilton and Shiloh Wall made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, McJilton tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Wall struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. At bat, McJilton went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Wall went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lindsey Cohee, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Harford Tech pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for North Harford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Harford Tech will face off against Bel Air at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cobras 3.7, the Bobcats 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for North Harford, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Aberdeen on May 23.
