Softball Recap: Mcclatchy Wins Going Away Against Cordova

McClatchy never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past the Cordova Lancers 16-0. The matchup marked the Lions' most dominant win of the season so far.

The team relied heavily on Maia Jacobs, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ciara Arias, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Jacobs wasn't the only one working in the home run department: McClatchy lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.

The victory (which was McClatchy's third in a row) raised their record to 3-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cordova, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, McClatchy will venture away from home to take on Nevada Union at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. McClatchy is facing Nevada Union at the right time seeing as Nevada Union is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Cordova, they will host Kennedy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
