Kaneland was handed an 11-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They skirted past the Pontiac Indians 8-6. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Madison Kossakowski and Ansley Ruh did most of the damage at the plate: Kossakowski went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Ruh went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that Kossakowski has hit this season. Luciana Campise was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

The win got Kaneland back to even at 5-5. As for Pontiac, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.

Coming up, Kaneland will challenge Geneseo at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Maple Leafs will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pontiac, they are taking a road trip to take on Washington at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
