Baseball Game Preview: Irvin Rockets vs. Bowie Bears

For the second straight game, Irvin will face off against Bowie. The Rockets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bears at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Irvin has three straight wins, Bowie has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Irvin earned an 8-3 victory over Bowie.

Anthony Badajosa made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Irvin is 5-1 when Badajosa allows one or fewer hits, but 8-11-1 otherwise. Badajosa was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amani Ruiz, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. Another player making a difference was Eli Rivera, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Bowie's defeat dropped their record down to 3-20. As for Irvin, they now have a winning record of 13-12-1.
