Basketball Preview: Brookfield Academy Blue Knights vs. Catholic Central Hilltoppers
The Brookfield Academy Blue Knights will be playing at home against the Catholic Central Hilltoppers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Brookfield Academy has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while the Hilltoppers will arrive with five straight victories.
Last Tuesday, Brookfield Academy lost to the Phoenix at home by a decisive 46-30 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Brookfield Academy has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Amelia Rigel, who scored 11 points. That was a full 36.7% of Brookfield Academy's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison York, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Catholic Central beat the Wildcats on Friday by the very same score they won with last week: 50-10.
Brookfield Academy dropped their record down to 9-9 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Catholic Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-12 record this season.
Brookfield Academy came up short against the Hilltoppers in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 49-43. Will Brookfield Academy have more luck at home instead of on the road?
