Basketball Recap: Darius Franklin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lakewood over Wilson

Lakewood lost against Wilson last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Lakewood Gators fell to the Wilson Tigers 58-53. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Gators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Darius Franklin, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds. Cedric Cisse was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Wilson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josh Leonard, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 11 boards. Leonard's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Tristan Thompson, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 15 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Lakewood's defeat dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Wilson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 19-8 record this season.

Lakewood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wilson, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers duke it out with the Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Bluffton sitting on ten straight victories and Wilson on six.
