Baseball Game Preview: Elgin Owls vs. Altus Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Elgin will face off against Altus. The Owls will take on the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Elgin has nine straight wins, Altus has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Monday, Elgin made easy work of Altus and carried off a 10-1 victory. The Owls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Ritson Meyer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 11 matches. Another player making a difference was Kade Hilliary, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Elgin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in four consecutive games.

Elgin's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Altus, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.

Both Elgin and Altus just can't seem to miss. The Owls have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game.
