Softball Game Preview: Griggsville-Perry Tornadoes vs. Brown County Hornets

Griggsville-Perry is 1-9 against Brown County since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Tornadoes are taking a road trip to challenge the Hornets at 4:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

On Monday, Griggsville-Perry needed a bit of extra time to put away North Greene. They had just enough and edged out the Spartans 4-3.

Brown County let West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] stack seven runs on them in the fifth inning on Wednesday but luckily Brown County prevailed anyway. The Hornets skirted past the Cougars 12-11. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Griggsville-Perry's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Brown County, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-11.

Griggsville-Perry skirted past Brown County 15-13 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tornadoes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
