Basketball Recap: Palo Verde Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

On Friday, the Palo Verde Panthers earned a 61-54 victory over the Western Warriors. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Warriors are ranked 68th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Zubayr Toms went supernova for Palo Verde, putting up 36 points along with five boards and three steals. Isaiah Nangah was another key player, posting six points and five blocks.

Palo Verde now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Western, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Palo Verde wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 82-46 win against Southeast Career Tech on the 10th. As for Western, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-16 victory against Trinity International on the 9th.
