West Union is 0-8 against Eastern since April of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Dragons will square off against the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. West Union has given up an average of 16.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
West Union came up short against Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington on Monday, falling 17-11.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eastern). They blew past Manchester 16-7 on Friday. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.
Averi Tabor was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Arey, who fired off four doubles, three runs, and two RBI while going 4-for-5. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddison Simpson, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Eastern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Manchester only posted a batting average of .276.
Eastern's record is now 9-3. As for West Union, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
West Union suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Eastern when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
