Baseball Recap: Saint Francis Sets Scoring Season-High Against Bellarmine College Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Saint Francis). They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Bellarmine College Prep Bells on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Bells: they've now won four in a row.

Landon Kim tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Matteo Pignati was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Leeper, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Saint Francis' win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bellarmine College Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Bellarmine College Prep beat Saint Francis by a score of 3-1 on Friday.
