Softball Game Preview: Beaver Dam Diamondback vs. Round Mountain Knights

The Beaver Dam Diamondback will head out on the road to square off against the Round Mountain Knights at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Beaver Dam has given up an average of 16.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Beaver Dam is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They lost 13-3 to Laughlin.

Meanwhile, Round Mountain never let their opponents score two weeks ago. They put the hurt on Sandy Valley with a sharp 22-0 win. Considering the Knights have won four games by more than 14 runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Samarah Swafford made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Swafford was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Round Mountain got a massive performance out of Baylee Dutton, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Dutton is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Layci Thibodeaux was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Round Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Round Mountain's record now sits at 6-1. As for Beaver Dam, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Beaver Dam has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Round Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Beaver Dam might still be hurting after the 24-14 loss they got from Round Mountain in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Diamondback avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
