Basketball Game Preview: Community Braves vs. Rains Wildcats

The Community Braves will take on the Rains Wildcats in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

While Community didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-29), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Spruce 71-32. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 428th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 1227th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rains). They blew past Chico 97-38 on Saturday. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 28 points or more this season.

Community is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Rains, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.

Community was taken down by Rains 70-36 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Community avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
