Suggested Video

The Van Alstyne Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the Caddo Mills Foxes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Van Alstyne knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Caddo Mills likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Van Alstyne took their match with ease, bagging a 54-7 win over Bonham. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Warriors are ranked 1002nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Caddo Mills humbled Bonham with a 43-10 victory. Considering the Foxes have won three contests by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Alfonso Gonzales continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 287 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. A healthy portion of Gonzales' aerial production (85 yards to be exact) went to Tristan Hardwell.

Caddo Mills didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Logan Heath, Alex Tovar, and Julian Martinez picked up one apiece. Martinez is also crushing it when it comes to defended passes: he's defended at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Van Alstyne's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.7 points per game. As for Caddo Mills, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
