Basketball Game Preview: Compass Charter Aviators vs. Riverstone International Otters

Compass Charter is 0-5 against Riverstone International since December of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. The Compass Charter Aviators will challenge the Riverstone International Otters at 6:00 p.m. Compass Charter will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Last Saturday, Compass Charter took their match with ease, bagging a 56-28 victory over Centennial Baptist. The Aviators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 22 points or more this season.

Compass Charter can attribute much of their success to Izzie Brizendine, who posted 13 points in addition to eight boards and four steals, and Reanna Byers, who put up 17 points. The contest was Byers' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Deasy, who had eight points and four steals.

Compass Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Riverstone International lost to Gem State Adventist Academy on the road by a 35-21 margin on Tuesday. The Otters have struggled against the Jaguars recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Compass Charter has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Riverstone International, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Compass Charter came up short against Riverstone International in their previous meeting back in December of 2021, falling 38-33. Can Compass Charter avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
