Softball Recap: Eastern View Has No Trouble Against Chancellor

Eastern View came out on top against Chancellor on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run first inning. The Cyclones blew past the Chargers 13-2. The victory continues a trend for the Cyclones in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won four in a row.

Ashlynn Settle made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over 4.1 innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sara Hopper, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Jordan Werth, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Eastern View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .611. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .526 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Eastern View's record is now 10-1. As for Chancellor, they are on a 31-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern View will square off against Stafford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
