Basketball Recap: The Pilgrim Academy Comes Up Short

The Pilgrim Academy played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 58-35 to the Atlantic Christian Cougars. The Pioneers haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Despite the loss, The Pilgrim Academy still got an impressive performance from Mason Parmer, who almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds. The game was Parmer's fourth in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Jared McGonagle, who posted six points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, The Pilgrim Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

The Pilgrim Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Atlantic Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 16-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. The Pilgrim Academy will face off against Oakcrest at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Atlantic Christian, they will square off against Cape May County Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
