University School of Jackson and Jackson Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Bruins are taking a road trip to challenge the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. University School of Jackson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
On Monday, University School of Jackson made easy work of Fayette Academy and carried off a 13-3 victory. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Teagan Timberlake made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Haylen Ayers was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Laura Kate Prater was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
University School of Jackson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Jackson Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over Fayette Academy on Wednesday.
Like University School of Jackson, Jackson Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Bailey Robinson. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Robinson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Maggie Coffman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Makayla Swift also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
University School of Jackson's record is now 8-6-1. As for Jackson Christian, their record now sits at 5-6-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. University School of Jackson hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Jackson Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
University School of Jackson took their win against Jackson Christian in their previous meeting on Tuesday by a conclusive 9-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bruins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
