Baseball Recap: Lunenburg Triumphs

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Lunenburg nor Maynard made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Blue Knights came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers, sneaking past 5-3. The Blue Knights haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Riley Ambrose made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nate Henry, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Lunenburg's record now sits at 10-2. As for Maynard, they moved to 11-5-1 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lunenburg will welcome Clinton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gaels have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Maynard, they will be playing at home against Tyngsborough at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
