West Washington owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Springs Valley Blackhawks as they made off with a 7-0 win. Considering the Senators have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
The result came thanks to Emery Haub's shutout, as she gave up just four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, West Washington let Layla Manship and Meredith Deaton run wild. Manship went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Deaton went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Manship also put up a run, which was her first of the season. Adelle Brown was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: West Washington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Springs Valley only managed five hits.
