Basketball Recap: De Anza Dons vs. Salesian College Preparatory Pride
The De Anza Dons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 80-61 to Salesian College Preparatory. While losing is never fun, De Anza can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 673rd, while the Pride are ranked eighth).
Despite the defeat, De Anza saw an underclassman step up: Ahmari Otis scored 27 points. Otis has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Christopher Smith, who scored 16 points.
De Anza has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 12 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season. As for Salesian College Preparatory, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 25-1.
De Anza does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Salesian College Preparatory also has no future games currently scheduled.
