Basketball Game Preview: Bonneville Lakers vs. Bountiful RedHawks

Bonneville is 0-10 against Bountiful since February of 2020 but things could change on Wednesday. The Bonneville Lakers will challenge the Bountiful RedHawks at 5:15 p.m.

Bonneville is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 36-31 heartbreaker at the hands of Roy. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Lakers, who fell 44-41 when the teams last met back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Bountiful had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points) and they went ahead and made it ten on Friday. They blew past the Knights 63-40. Given the RedHawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Knights are ranked 74th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bountiful's win came from a few key players Bonneville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Taylor Harvey, who went 9 for 17 en route to 20 points and eight boards. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mae Johnson, who posted ten points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks.

Bountiful smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive contests.

Bountiful pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.6 points per game. As for Bonneville, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-14.

Bonneville took a serious blow against Bountiful when the teams last played back in January, falling 89-27. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Bonneville was down 56-8.
