Southwood entered their tilt with North DeSoto on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the North DeSoto Griffins by a score of 34-24. Given the Cowboys' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Griffins are ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Southwood is also on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for North DeSoto, their loss dropped their record down to 12-15.

It'll be Northside v. Southside when Southwood and Northwood meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northwood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Southwood likes a good challenge. As for North DeSoto, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Woodlawn-Shreveport at 6:00 p.m.
