The Central Catholic Raiders will venture away from home to square off against the Mountain House Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mountain House will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Central Catholic extended their winning streak to eight on Tuesday. The Raiders' pitchers stepped up to hand Sierra a 33-0 shutout. The Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Amaya Gustavis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs.
In other pitching news, Braelyn Avila looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Central Catholic got a massive performance out of Jazmarie Roberts, who went 3-for-6 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four runs gave Roberts a new career-high. Samantha Nichols was another key player, getting on base in five of her seven plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Central Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Mountain House got the win against East Union on Tuesday by a conclusive 8-0.
Like Central Catholic, Mountain House also got a great game from a two-way player: Luna Lopez. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Lopez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, MacKenzie Coffman was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Central Catholic's record now sits at 14-4. As for Mountain House, their record is now 15-3.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Central Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .365. However, it's not like Mountain House struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Central Catholic came out on top in a nail-biter against Mountain House in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
