Basketball Recap: Giles Comes Up Short

Giles lost against Bland County last Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Giles Spartans fell 57-48 to the Bland County Bears. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while the Bears are ranked 113th).

Bland County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tinley Worley led the charge by going 6-for-15 on her way to 17 points. The contest was Worley's third in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenna Hollis, who posted nine points.

Giles' loss was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Bland County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.

Giles didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-46 defeat against Radford on the 6th. As for Bland County, they have also already played their next game, a 58-19 victory against Grayson County on the 6th.
