Baseball Game Preview: Park Place Christian Academy Crusaders vs. Lamar Raiders

The Park Place Christian Academy Crusaders will head out on the road to face off against the Lamar Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Park Place Christian Academy has now lost 13 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 7.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Park Place Christian Academy's offense. They came up short against Leake Academy on Thursday, falling 10-0.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Lamar and Simpson Academy meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Raiders came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 5-0.

Not much got past Sullivan Reed, who gave up just four hits to keep Simpson Academy off the board. Reed has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jackson Whitcomb, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Kipton Weir also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Lamar has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Park Place Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-15.

Park Place Christian Academy might still be hurting after the 15-5 loss they got from Lamar in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Crusaders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
