League recap: Hickory Ridge extends winning streak with victory over Robinson

3A South Piedmont recap Oct. 30, 2012

Hickory Ridge extended the longest winning streak in 3A South Piedmont this week by beating Robinson, 42-31. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.

Cox Mill led the league in scoring this week after putting up 50 points on Northwest Cabarrus. Kelly Hall threw for 132 yards and one touchdown and ran for 60 yards in the win.

Mount Pleasant's dynamic duo of Austin Parker and Andy Hunt proved tough for Central Cabarrus to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Parker threw for 152 yards and two touchdowns and Hunt had 104 yards receiving. Austin Radford helped Mount Pleasant's passing attack out by catching three balls for 23 yards.

Diron Chole was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 160 yards as the Chargers lost to the Vikings. Malik Johnson also contributed to the rushing game with 89 yards on the ground.

Concord's B.J. Beecher and Alex Asbury have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 3A South Piedmont in both passing and receiving yards. Beecher has thrown for 2698 yards this season, while Asbury, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 36 catches for 1003 yards. Kalif Phillips from A.L. Brown leads the league in rushing with 1156 yards.

The Wonders' Ricky Sherrill is a mere 84 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 142 carries Sherrill has accumulated 916 yard this year.
