Basketball Recap: Catalina Takes a Loss

Catalina extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 0-4. They were dealt a 64-16 defeat at the hands of the Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Lions. The Trojans were not able to make up for their loss to the Lions from their previous meeting back in February.

As for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, the win (which was their 14th in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.2 points over those games.

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Noah McKinney out in front who went 7-for-10 to rack up 16 points. The game was McKinney's fifth in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Munoz, who shot 71% from the field en route to 11 points and five rebounds.

Coming up, Catalina is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on San Miguel at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Pusch Ridge Christian Academy has already played their next contest (against Desert View), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
