Belding came tearing into Thursday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Lakewood Vikings. For the Redskins, this counts as revenge for the 8-3 win the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2019.

Emma Ingles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Amara German was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Kylei Nearing was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Belding's record is now 16-5. As for Lakewood, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9.

Belding will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vikings: the pair will be back at it again later today.
