Basketball Game Preview: Mapleton Sailors vs. Perrydale Pirates

The Mapleton Sailors will square off against the Perrydale Pirates at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Mapleton will head into Tuesday's match on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Oakridge on Tuesday. Mapleton blew past Oakridge 47-13. That 34 point margin sets a new team best for the Sailors this season.

Meanwhile, Perrydale had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They breezed by the Mountaineers to the tune of 57-25. The Pirates' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Perrydale's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Mapleton, their win bumped their record up to an identical 3-1.

Mapleton took a serious blow against Perrydale in their previous meeting back in February of 2017, falling 39-10. Can Mapleton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
