Basketball Recap: Martin Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Martin lost against Rio Grande City back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Martin Tigers lost 47-27 to the Rio Grande City Rattlers. The Tigers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it six in a row.

Martin lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Emily Marroquin, who posted six points and three steals.

Martin's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-11. As for Rio Grande City, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 7-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Martin will take on Nixon in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rio Grande City and Juarez-Lincoln will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rio Grande City is facing Juarez-Lincoln at the right time seeing as Juarez-Lincoln is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
